Grief and Loss

Losing someone important to you is one of the hardest experiences in life and as a child or young person who is still developing this can be even more challenging to navigate and make sense of.

The impact of bereavement and loss for a child or young person can be complex and may lead to feelings of isolation and withdrawal. Grieving is a natural part of recovering from a bereavement and this experience is different for everyone.

For many people experiencing bereavement and loss this can bring up a whole range of emotions and these can vary in how intense they feel and how long they last for. As a young person you may notice that those around you respond differently to the experience, it is okay to process this experience in your individual way even if this is different to others. You may feel angry, sad, frightened and all of your feelings associated with this experience are valid.

Talking to someone about your experience could be helpful and a source of comfort during this difficult time.
