Information for Parents and Carers

Supporting you as you navigate your child’s therapeutic journey together.

You Are Not Alone in This

Realising that your child might need professional support can be a difficult and emotional experience for any parent. It is natural to feel a sense of worry, or even a heavy responsibility for your child’s wellbeing. My “For Parents” approach is designed to lift some of that weight. I provide a professional, grounded space where your child can heal, which in turn allows you to step back from the role of “fixer” and return to simply being their parent.

Providing the professional expertise you need to support your child’s growth.

The Parental Partnership

While the sessions are a private space for your child, my work with you is a vital part of the clinical process. I believe in a collaborative approach. This does not mean I share every detail of what your child says, as privacy is essential for their progress, but it does mean we work together. Through regular parent consultations, I help you understand the themes coming up in therapy so that the progress we make in our sessions in North Shields can be mirrored and sustained at home for families across Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, and Cullercoats.

What to Expect as a Parent

I want you to feel as supported as your child is. From the moment you arrive at my practice in North Shields, the environment is designed for your comfort as well as theirs. I am here to answer your questions, ease your concerns, and ensure you feel confident in the care your child is receiving.

Beyond the child’s sessions, I offer separate meetings for parents. These are dedicated times for us to speak openly about your child’s progress and for you to receive specific psychoeducation and support.

My practice has two comfortable, private waiting areas. You are welcome to wait on site while your child’s session takes place, providing you with a quiet 50 minute break of your own.

I maintain a high level of confidentiality to protect your child’s trust, but your child’s safety is my priority. I will always keep you informed of any safeguarding concerns or significant risks immediately.
