Supporting your child’s emotional development through creative clinical practice.
Child Therapy and Counselling
Specialist Support for Your Child
It is often difficult to watch your child struggle with emotions they cannot quite explain. Whether they are dealing with anxiety, changes at home, or school pressures, children often lack the vocabulary to tell us what is wrong. My role is to provide a gentle, safe space in North Shields where we can figure it out together. By using a child led approach, I help your child make sense of their world and find a calmer way forward.

More Than Just Play
While I use creative tools like sand trays and art to engage your child, the work is grounded in Integrative Child Psychotherapy. This is a deeper level of clinical support that looks at root causes rather than just managing symptoms. By combining neurobiological insights with a creative environment, I provide a professional framework that helps your child process trauma and build emotional security at their own pace, supporting families from Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, and Cullercoats.

What happens in the session?
I believe therapy should feel like a sanctuary rather than a clinical appointment. My room is designed to be a “creative toolkit” where your child can feel in control. We use sand, clay, and music to externalise worries that feel too heavy to speak aloud. This sensory way of working regulates the nervous system and allows the child to feel safe while doing deep emotional work.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are priced at £60. We aim to meet weekly, but frequency is flexible depending on your child’s needs.
While I keep the specific details of sessions private to protect the therapeutic bond, I provide regular general updates to parents and will always contact you regarding safety concerns.
Our initial assessment is a chance for me to hear your concerns and gather your child’s history so we can decide on the best way forward together.
Frequently Asked Questions
Helpful information for parents exploring therapeutic support for their child.
It is completely normal for children to feel hesitant or worried at first. I do not expect children to sit down and talk like adults. Instead, my room is equipped with a creative toolkit including sand trays, clay, art supplies, and musical instruments. These sensory tools allow your child to express how they feel naturally through play without feeling pressured to find the right words.
I work in partnership with you. While your child needs confidential space to build trust in the room, I hold regular parent review sessions. During these meetings, we discuss overarching themes, your observations at home, and gentle strategies you can use to support their emotional progress day to day.
Therapy works best when your child feels confident that what they share is private. I protect that therapeutic relationship by not sharing play details or personal conversations verbatim. However, I always share general progress and insights, and I will contact you immediately if there is any safeguarding or safety concern regarding your child.
Our first meeting is a dedicated 50-minute assessment, usually held with parents or carers first. This gives us time to talk openly about your concerns, discuss your child’s developmental background, and decide together whether my integrative approach is the right fit for your family before introducing your child to the room.
Every young person is unique. Some children benefit from a shorter course of weekly sessions focused on navigating a specific change or transition, while children working through developmental trauma, grief, or attachment challenges often benefit from longer-term support. We review our therapeutic work regularly so you always feel clear on progress.
Sessions take place in my cosy, private consulting room at North Tyneside Business Centre on Saville Street in North Shields. The building has lift and stair access, and includes two comfortable, quiet waiting areas where parents can relax on-site while their child is in session.
