About Me

UKCP accredited psychotherapist for children and young people in Tyneside.

About My Practice

I believe that every child and young person deserves a space where they feel truly seen and heard. I am Rachael, a UKCP accredited Integrative Psychotherapist. My work is about helping you, or your child, find a way through the difficult times using a blend of professional expertise and a warm, creative approach.

My practice is built on a foundation of trauma-informed and attachment-focused expertise. I am also an approved provider for Adopt North East, which allows me to offer specialised support including Play Therapy and Therapeutic Life Story Work for children and families.

Experience And Specialisms

Trust is the foundation of therapy. When looking for support for your child or yourself, you need to know you are in safe, expert hands. My work is backed by years of specialist clinical training and a commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards in the UK.

UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist: Full clinical membership, representing the highest level of professional training and ethical accountability in the UK.

Diploma in Child Psychotherapy: Specialist post graduate training from the Northern Guild, focused specifically on the developmental and emotional needs of children and teenagers.

Adopt North East Approved: A recognised clinical provider for regional adoption agencies, specialising in complex trauma, attachment, and family support.

PSA Accredited Register Member: Registered with a body overseen by the Professional Standards Authority, ensuring high standards of public protection and quality of care.

The Way I Work

Safety:

I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment where you or your child can feel completely secure.

Creativity:

When words are hard to find, I use art and play to help bridge the gap.

Honesty:

I bring a grounded, real-world presence to our sessions to help build genuine trust.

Teamwork:

For younger clients, I work closely with parents to ensure the progress we make in the room continues at home.

Specialist Adoption and Foster Care Support

Navigating early developmental trauma, attachment disruption, and big family transitions requires clinical care that looks far beneath surface behaviours. As an approved provider for both Adopt North East and Tact Fostering Agency, I provide dedicated psychotherapy tailored specifically to the unique emotional worlds of care-experienced children and their carers.

My specialist work includes Play Therapy and Therapeutic Life Story Work. By safely piecing together past experiences and establishing a dependable secure base, I help children understand their identity, reduce nervous system overwhelm, and build lasting stability within their adoptive or foster families.

A Space Designed for Expression

My therapy room in North Shields is designed to be as versatile as the children I work with. Direct talk can often feel like an interrogation for a young person, so I use a “Creative Toolkit” to make therapy more accessible.

The space is equipped with sand trays, clay, art supplies, and music. These tools allow us to work through problems at a pace that feels natural, turning the room into a safe workshop for emotional discovery. While I work with your child, you can wait comfortably in one of my two dedicated waiting areas on-site.
